OK, I have had my Epic for about a year, and had run 100% stock for that entire time other than trying some of the leaked builds. So, I finally rooted this week mainly due to the gps fix for EI22. Now that I am rooted, figured may as well take advantage of some of the features this offers.

What are the main rooted apps you would suggest?

Well as far as rooted apps, its not that there is a line of apps specifically...

You have apps for options like

Wireless Tethering
Titanium Backup / My Back Up Root
ES File Explorer/ Root Explorer
Screen Shot
SetCPU

There are other apps out there but those are the main general apps used for rooted users to take better control of their rooted device.

You can always search the Market with a search of "root" or "root apps" or "superuser" and see what it pulls up.

I tried to install this. From the phone I can't find it. From the market website, it says it's not available on my carrier. I am on Sprint like every other Epic 4G.

Yeah, I saw that Sprint has been banning it to stop people from abusing their unlimited data connection. You can install it manually. Make sure your phone is set to allow non-market apps to be installed (Settings > Applications> Unknown sources), then d/l the APK to your phone from here: wifi_tether_v3_1-beta7.apk - android-wifi-tether - WiFi Tether for Root Users 3.1-beta7 *** BETA *** - Wireless Tether for Root Users - Google Project Hosting and run it using ES explorer or something similar.

Don't forget Roam Control. In addition to Titanium Backup to freeze apps, I also use Gemini App Manager.
