Rooted but not unlocked?

Hi guys. Just got my Optimus T today. Rooted it, stuck in my non-Tmo sim and it is still locked. I guess I was misinformed but doesn't rooting also unlock?

How do you get unlock code? I was on the phone for 30 minutes with T Mobile rep, who then called LG, and finally she told me there is no way she can provide me with an unlock code, that they don't exist. None of the websites that have pay-for unlock codes list the phone either.

Does anyone know.

Hey thanks saymes. I never had to buy them before, T-Mobile always gave me unlock code for free. But I will do it since I travel alot. I don't understand why they can't.
