So I rooted my phone a while back using Towleroot and I did what anyone who roots does I removed a cap ton of bloatware and bs app that's I didn't want need or use now an OS update is available however my phone won't Install the update it gets to about 25% the the android falls over with a warning sign over him the phone boots on into the main screen and says there has been an error please visit my local us cellular store for help... they say they have to flash the phone so I'm wondering did the rooting of my phone do this and if so how to I put it all back like it was so that I can install the update without having to drive 30 miles?

Or is there a way to just skip the ota update and jump straight to a newer version of android like lollypop without tripping knox?

The 25% point (+/- about 3%, depending on the particular update) is where the process is checking to see whether the phone has ever been rooted. If it has, the process stops. There are things you can do while rooted that will brick the phone if you update it with a stock update. It also checks that the ROM is stock. Using a stock update on, say, a Cyanogen ROM will totally brick the phone. (Google got the notice wrong - the process doesn't fail, it abruptly, and neatly, ends - there's a big difference.)

The solution - the only solution - is to flash the stock ROM (which is what they'll do, or they'll flash the new ROM - since flashing a ROM overwrites the existing ROM [and all your apps and data], it doesn't matter if the old ROM is rooted), update, then root. Before you do, make sure there's a root method for the version you're updating to and, if it's an AT&T or Verizon phone (regardless of which carrier it's being used on), one that doesn't trip Knox.

And, of course, back up everything. Once you flash a ROM, you have a phone that's like new out of the box. You have to go through the setup again.

1. Samsung knoxs says that it is still an official unrooted software on the phone if you had read I told u which method I used.

2. I did not use any other ROM I left the phone the way it was with the stock ROM on it just rooted it to get rid of bloat ware and apps I don't use or need.

3.Your "solution" does not help me I asked for a solution that does not involve me driving 30 miles to a store to let them flash the rom

4.As for a root method for an AT&T or Verizon phone why do I care if there is my phone is a USCC aka U.S Cellular phone not AT&T or Verizon did u even read more than the first sentence?

5.As for rooting again after all this is done duh I know not to trip Knox that's why I used Towleroot to begin with and it didn't trip Knox hell Knox don't even register that it's even been rooted making it an official software version so you have stated nothing to help me if your going to respond please read the full story and get all the details before replying and babbling on endlessly about stuff that has nothing to do with what I'm asking much less offer a solution other than the one I have already been given by my carrier which again is USCC not AT&T or Verizon
