I've been researching on the most stable rom for Eris 2.1 and 2.2.
It seems like there's no stable release for any of the roms.
Can anyone recommend any stable releases that doesn't affect
the GPS and MMS features?
I thought the evil eris was the custom rom I should've chosen, but
some people said their gps and mms didn't work at all.

Please help, I think I'm going to root it to 2.1 and not 2.2 with the Eris.

So please... anyone know of any 2.1 Stable Eris Roms?

THanks!

take a look at xtrROM or xtrsense, both very stable, one is vanilla android and the other has sense loaded.

I agree that xtrSENSE and xtrROM are very stable 2.1 builds (though xtrROM is not, technically, a vanilla android ROM - it still has many of the HTC frameworks customized bits, like the browser, dialer, messaging app, etc. - it just uses a third party launcher and does not include the sense launcher.) Evil Eris was popular for a time but has not been updated for many months and, unlike the two xtr roms, was built off a port of the Sprint Hero rather than directly from the Eris. Personally, I'd stay away from it. (One other thing that the xtr roms have is something called cache2cache which opens up a lot more space for third party apps; when I tried Evil Eris in July and loaded in my apps I had less than 10 MB free storage left. With xtrSENSE, I have over 80 MB free.)

The 2.2 ROMs are pretty stable and miss only a very few minor features. My favorite is CELB, though Nonsensikal is very good as well. GPS works fine, your can send and receive MMS messages (though I think that received video MMS does not play as it does on 2.1 ROMs), the camera works just fine.

I rooted my eris with kaosfroyo v38, I gotta say it seems more stable than stock 2.1 might even go as far as sayin even better battery life. Possibly because I can better manage my cpu speed and memory.
