Rooted phone for battery life

I rooted my phone because I hear it helps with battery life for the Samsung S5. I've rooted it and see no difference. I now find out that you have to use apps "roms" and "kernels" to now customize the phone to be less battery consuming.

MY question is how do I do that? What setting do I play around with, which app should I use? I currently have Wanam, but I don't see anything that seems like it would affect battery life.

I don't know where to begin, which custom ROM should I use for a better battery life? I've already done the basics, and quite frankly I think they're kinda dumb. They basically require me to have turned off everything cool about the phone

With root you can i.e. remove all bloatware with root uninstaller. Needs to be careful though, that you dont uninstall any important system apps. Installing custom kernels and roms you may need Odin or custom recovery to flash those. And it always have some possibility to brick your phone, if something goes wrong.

Another option, if you dont want to go searching tons of roms, you may un-root and stay stock, then buy an extended battery. I have 5500 mAh battery on my S4 and battery life is no longer a problem :)
