I keep getting the latest update trying to be pushed to my phone and I don't want it and wish it permanently stop popping up. I am rooted s-off, I used unrevoked3 and then tried to do unrevoked forever but not sure if it worked. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a thread explaining how to do this but when i did it still kept popping up. I installed the latest OTA via Clockwork to get rid of it. The latest rooted version is quite stable and fixed all of the nagging bugs. You do need to follow the directions to a T and do the full wipe or you'll get stuck at the white HTC Incredible screen. If you use AppBrain and Titanium it takes no time to get your phone back to how you like it. DO NOT install the data from the apps or e-mail and calendar plus do a backup using ROM Manager in case you need to restore to it. I tried without wiping and that saved my butt big time.

How do u know if u did unrevoked forever correctly ?

Unrevoked forever is what gives you s-off. If you recently rooted, then unrevoked3 did it for you, because at some point, they integrated the s-off tool into unrevoked3

Turn your phone off. Turn back on while holding down the volume down button. When you get to the white screen with the droids at the bottom (I think, I'm going from memory here) look at the upper left corner. If it says "s-off" then it worked and you have achieved "s-off"

I know I have s-off, thanks to all of you for that. My situation is that I have a 2.2 inc am using incRom, and it keeps asking me to update to 4 point something, i don't want it and I wish to deny it permanently, and I don't know how to do that ? Do I accept the update and reload inc rom ?

If you accept it you could hose your phone. I did by mistake and it looked like it came back but then when I changed batteries it got stuck at the white screen.

You'll need to start from scratch but the thread in here has a link to XDA with exact directions on how to update your phone and if followed exactly works great.

I tried to change the file name it tells me that its a read only file and wont let me, am I doing something wrong ?

Did you change the setting from read to R/0 to Mount Read write? I will bet that changing the name of the cache .zip file will not stop the update notification from appearing.

Thanks for all the help, but I just want to keep what I have and keep the "ask to update" from coming up. Does anyone know how to do that ?
