Rooted Virgin Mobile Optimus Slider not visible to Nexus 7 as a wifi hotspot

I rooted my Optimus Slider specifically to use it as a hotspot for my Nexus 7...bought the Nexus 7 with the full intention of doing so...but the Nexus 7 can't see it. The crappy iPad I upgraded from sees it just fine, as do some smartphones...but the Nexus 7 and some smartphones can't see it at all.

I'm using WiFi Tether for Root, and Barnacle WiFi Tether, and neither of them work with the Nexus 7.

Any ideas?

Help.

I believe this is an issue with the N7 and not the Slider. Moving your thread so you'll be able to (hopefully) get an answer.

I don't personally have any experience with it but there's an app called foxfi that everyone seems to use for this...

Thank you for the suggestion, but that will not install to the phone, the version of the OS is too old. It's only Android 2.3.4.

FWIW, I have the LG Optimus V running 2.2 and the hot spot works fine with my N7 or anything else. I am using a free app called Quick Settings to enable the hot spot.

Good luck!

Ok, good news and bad. The Nexus 7 sees the phone, right up until there is an error in quick settings and the hot spot turns back off. Error code 67. But, that means it is possible to see the phone on the Nexus 7, I just have to find the app that will do it.
