Rooted - what next?

Also, what's involved with flashing a different Tpax? I like the one I'm running but some buttons to select are hard to see (almost black on black). Just wipe cache and dalvik and reflash another Tpax?

OK I think I'm going to flash purity tomw...I'm running zeam launcher now so don't need blur. Did they iron out the bugs for flashing it?

Oh yeah it works like a charm. I would make a CWR backup right before you wipe and flash Purity just in case you realize afterwards there's some blur thing you couldn't live without... not that I think you will need it, but it doesn't hurt :)

Other than that, nah just remember to delete the unthrottle folders on your internal AND external sd's before wiping and flashing purity base. Do a minor setup. Run Unthrottle from Terminal Emulator (note the instructions have changed, you're typing su <enter> then ut.sh <enter> instead of bionic.sh like you did with shift3r... After that go and flash the Tpak you want... I'm on IC3 and love it.

Here's a thing I ran into that might save you trouble: If you like having your facebook contacts sync to your phone, then after you flash the Purity base, go to Manage Apps, hit Facebook, clear it's cache AND it's data, then UNINSTALL it from there. Go CWM, format /cache and dalvik, flash your Tpak, then when your all booted up go to the market and redownload facebook. I had to do this to get facebook to give you the contacts sync option. Otherwise, you'll be stuck with a facebook that has that option taken out because apparently moto or vz had them do that since it would conflict with the blur sync.

I just rooted, then downloaded bootstrap but it said superuser permission not granted. When I opened superuser bootstrap Is not listed.

Also I backed up with titanium backup and then tried to sync with dropbox and that just hangs at 3%. Wondering if everything is ok after I rooted.

LDUB you said you verified your root and there was a line missing, how did you do that.

For the first thing, probably should just reboot and launch it again, grant it SU permissions when it asks.

2nd thing could just be a small bug either in dropbox or TiBu, or even just a network issue. I don't sync my TiBu with my dropbox... I set it to backup everything to my sd-ext... and once in a while, like before I do a big wipe for a ROM install, I'll back that up to my computer, but honestly don't even bother anymore recently since no wiping you do for ROM's touches your sd-ext anyway.

What Ldub was talking about was verifying that the ForeverRoot script was in place. It involves 3 lines of code added to the end of the system file.. full details right here, very first half of first post:
Forever root + .893 = winning! - xda-developers

You don't have to verify that you're rooted really.. if you see Superuser in your apps you are rooted most likely, or you can download something like Root Checker from the market if your worried :)

Try this: When you open bootstrap, click the top button first. Then, click the second button. That sets it up.

Same thing with [P]urity... to flash a different Tpak, just wipe cache and dalvik and reflash new one?

That's what I did to install the 2.3.1 update. As 2 def said, delete your unthrottle folders internally and on the external SD card first though.

Hey I just realized I don't have an unthrottle folder on sd-ext. Should I?

Not if its working I wouldn't worry about it. In different versions of his ROMs I've noticed sometimes it stays there and sometimes it doesn't, but doesn't make a difference as long as you got it up and running. What I believe happens is when you flash the ROM the folder gets created on your sd-ext, then when you run the script it moves it to the internal one, and sometimes it leaves the one on sd-ext sometimes it doesn't. I'm not 100% sure I'm right but again, doesn't really matter.

How to ensure it is working?

On Purity, since its just the data unthrottle and he didn't include the other options in the script to check mods, I'm actually not sure, lol. If you ran it its probably working. I think he said he's going to put back in the option to check it in next version.
