OK, I rooted my infuse now what?

I did it because it seemed easy and it was.

Now what should I do, plant it in some potting soil and wait for it to sprout?

Well what are you looking to do? Some applications require Root. Its not like its the massive OMG type effect lol. You cant even tell the phone is rooted besides the superuser file. But you can do things like Install clockwork recovery and install custom roms from developers. Not much of that here in these forums. But check out XDAdevelopers.com. Thats a community of developers that make the goods :)

EDIT: Also. Be careful what you do. Read up on How Tos and be specific as its explained. You could totally brick your phone if your not careful. There are ways to bring it back but as a novice, I would recommend you read up and get yourself comfertible with flashing and modifying your phone.

Even if you're not fond of flashing custom ROMs on your Infuse, you can freeze some of that nasty bloatware.

Will do thanks. I not too worried. Bought and tore apart my first computer around 1981. :D

Ahh so your a person that likes to take risks? lol Take Risk.............at your own RISK lol. I think a majority of us are like that. With these phones when I see certain things done to them, Its like I have to do whatever it takes to make it happen. And I usually do, but then I always return back to OEM lol. I dont know why, but heh.... it gains expierence :)

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. I rooted mine last night and I guess I was expecting that "wow" factor. I guess I was also expecting to see a lot more options under settings for personal customization, but I guess that will just rely on apps that I download. Is there a good forum/website to read that would give us some cool information on what we can do with a rooted phone/cool root apps that we can use and where to get them? I am new to this and need a little direction on where to begin.

Well, here's a wow experience. With a rooted phone you can add a tethering app and convert your Infuse into a Hotspot -- and not pay a cent to AT&T if they don't catch you. Talk about living dangerously, huh? :)

Did you use the generic "Wireless Tether" app, I have it on mine, and it doesn't work. And I believe from reading other posts that we both use macs.

1. I don't know if the macs are the problem.

2. Maybe because it is still considered experimental, only certain phones work with it, kind of like the Netflix app.

If you were able to get yours to work, could you let me know how?

I use Wireless Tether version 2.0.7. Is your phone rooted? As far as I know it only works on rooted phones. I've already used it a couple of times to connect my iPad2. It worked well. About your other items:

1. Macs are not the problem.
2. It is working on my Infuse. I don't think the app can distinguish one Infuse from another.

After rooting the phone, I had to turn it to airplane mode and use wifi in order to download Wireless Tether. After that, it was just setting up the app. I went through the settings and created a password. Once that was done, I tapped the large icon and got it started. My iPad2 immediately picked up the wifi network. I was able to log on to it once I entered the 13-digit password I had created.

Could you give me a link of where you downloaded. I have the 3.0 experimental version and maybe that is the problem. Yes my infuse is rooted. It also didnt have me do any set up, it just downloaded and that was is.

I downloaded mine from the Android Market, but you can only do that if you go to airplane mode and download with wifi. That is what I used.

Got it to work now, thanks! Any other hidden apps that require that trick?
