Rooting a Sony Xperia?

Hey there, I'm likely getting a Sony Xperia Z3 within the next week or so, and I was wondering what the best thing to do would be to get rid of bloatware and install some kind of ad blocker?

I heard about ROOTing from a google search that lead me to this forum, but the thread in question was about a Samsung phone and I'm uncertain as to how that might apply to mine?

(Please be gentle with me. I'm a dumbdumb when it comes to any kind of tech thing beyond the absolute basics of a born millennial, but my current phone is SO AWFUL - it's a Cubot Rainbow that I bought mostly because it was affordable and I liked the name - and was largely ruined by ads from Google Music, because I absolutely have to have my tunes but I wasn't prepared to subscribe for music I already had :/)

(For that matter, any advice on anti-virus apps or music apps that aren't the above would be deeply appreciated.)

Sony themselves have you covered. Check here for unlocking your bootloader (necessary first step) and Sony configured AOSP (stock Android) ROMS to flash to your Z3.

You may not even need to root, depending on your user scenarios.

Further, I've found that Sony puts a very light skin over Android and it is actually pretty close to stock already without much bloat but a few nice touches added in. I'd also suggest you review your Google Privacy Dashboard if you are concerned about Ads and tracking. https://myaccount.google.com/intro/privacy?hl=en-US

Rooting really has little to do with what you seem to be asking about. Remember that modding your device might void any warranty you have from the seller and should be done only when you understand the risks and the processes.

How about if the device bootloader can't be unlocked. What next?
How do you root Sony Xperia Z3 D6603 on MM6.0.1?
