Rooting Advice?

honestly, i have yet to find any bugs with the slimkat build... its early but rock solid man. and houstonn is all over this thing, like a new born baby. he is updating it regularly... some people are complaing of screen dimness and other little things, but i dont have nay issues whatsoever and thats after a pretty thorough rundown. ALWAYS wipe before flashing and should be good... way too many people try to dirty flash roms and wonder why they have bugs.

edit, this is my daily driver too, so call me brave, but i follow instructions and typically have pretty good luck. i would highly recommend slimkat

I've done the Titanium thing already...froze apps and backed up the device to my Dropbox account. The rom part gives me pause though. I'd hate to find I've lost some function or other. I might be in the minority, but I like the stock rom and I'm comfortable with its appearance. Mostly I'd love to identify the hidden piece of AT&T script that prevents me from tethering and freeze its ***.

No you are not minority, many people (including myself) like the stock rom, appearance, functionality, like you, we also would love to identify certain things and freeze their ***es. :) There is still bunch of stuff running in the background.
So you already rooted?

Yes, rooted using tim schofields method that I was directed to by bear_lx in this thread. AFAIK, Titanium only works on rooted devices. I purchased it a few phones ago...I think it was when I had a RAZR Maxx. I had a Nexus 5 for only a few days before I realized its shortcoming wouldn't do for me, but I did enjoy the fact that I could tether right out of the box.

Have you guys tried to remove Carrier IQ yet after getting root?

Turned it off like others have before I rooted, but I haven't tried removing it yet now that it is.

Did you use anything to stop CIQ after you rooted, like Android Tuner?

It's my understanding that CIQ stays off until you reboot the phone. Since I almost never reboot, I haven't worried about taking any special measures to remove it. If, on the rare occasion, I need to reboot, I'll simply disable it again. It's really not that much trouble.

Yeah I just don't know if it stops all the processes under general settings without rooting
