Rooting an LG Optimus Elite without connection to the Play Store... is it possible?

Hey everyone,

This is my first time attempting to root any device, so please bear with me!

As anyone who has ever traveled with this phone has probably noticed, whenever you leave the country the clock reverts back to 1980 and the the majority of your apps won't open. Based on everything I've gathered, the only way people have been able to successfully fix this problem is to download a clock sync-ing program and update the time manually. However I also read this is only suppose to work on a rooted phone.

I'm living abroad, and won't be back in the States for at least another 6 months, so I'm trying to figure out if there is anything I can do to fix this problem myself, rather than buying a new smart phone here. I already downloaded ClockSync onto my phone through my browser (WiFi still works, Play Store does not).

Now I'm looking into the process of rooting my device. I've been following this guide (http://forums.androidcentral.com/op...7329-rooting-your-optimus-elite-easy-way.html), which seems straightforward enough. During a freak occurrence, my phone had connection over here on its own (green wifi bars as opposed to white), during that time I downloaded Ministro II before my phone froze. I rebooted it, and reverted back to its typical no-connection-to-the-server state. However, I was able to download poot as an apk file using the browser on my phone.

I have reached the point where Ministro is updated, I have "clicked here to poot" and everything is set to go. The problem is I cannot connect to the Google Play Store to download Superuser. I've tried the same method, downloading it as an apk using my browser, but nothing has worked so far. Every time I try installing it from the Google Store website on the browser my phone kind of freezes, and every time I try to download a third party file, nothing happens.

So, what I'm wondering is if there's any way possible for me to do download this app without another freak "green bar" occurrence, or am I just wasting my time? Although, I've already gotten this far...

And, if I do find a way to download it, will it automatically sync with poot or could I mess things up?

Is there any way to download the file onto your computer (which I've done) and install it onto your phone when it's connected with a usb cable?

Sorry for all my probably stupid sounding questions. Like I said, I'm new at this, please bear with me. I appreciate the help!

I messed up the rooting procedure on a prior phone and managed to lose access to the Play Store. Things went from bad to un-fixable WITHOUT access to the Play Store. Hopefully someone else with better experience than me will chime in on this thread. Until then... BE CAREFUL.

Good luck!

The same here. I brought my virgin mobile- Lg optimus elite phone to Peru, and then, it went to 1980, and i can?t change the time or the date. Of course i can?t access playstore either. So, i suppose i shouldnt use the easy guide in this forum. I?m completely lost about how to root this bloody phone.:'(

Ok, i finally got it.
Since i couldnt open playstore because of the date problem, i have to download apk and save it in my sd card.
you alredy have in the thread (Rooting Your Optimus Elite The Easy Way) the minister II and the poot apk?s
You?ll also need the Superuser App Superuser 3.1.3 APK for Android Download - APKLate
And the RootChecker app Root Checker (Android) - Descargar

I guide my self with this video posted on youtube "how to root lg optimus elite" that follos every step of the thread

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXSN8MQa-WI

Every time i was suppose to go to the market, i went to my SD card instead (i used the "polaris viewer app", because it didn?t work with "downloads app") and install the apk with the package installer option.

At the end, the Root checker said congratulations (as seen in the video) and i was rooted. But still no clue of how to fix the time and regain access to playstore.
To do so, you have to fix the date and time. Install Clocksync apk: Download ClockSync Android App
Open the app, it will show the righ time at the botton,
click on settings SINCRONIZE
Your Superuser app will ask to allow the proccess: click on allow
and in seconds, like Rowling Potter magic :D, it will change the date, the time, your apps will start to update, and best of all, you will be able to open playstore.
