Rooting and Updating?

First off, I am new to the android operating system as well as htc phones. Having that said, I would like some clarification on things that have been on my mind recently.

Firstly, from what I understand, after rooting the Thunderbolt you will no longer be able to recieve updates - that is where kernals come in. Am I right thus far? If so, explain to me how these kernals work; if not, then how do our phones get updates?

Secondly, again - from what I understand, unrooting the Thunderbolt is an exreme pain to deal with. How does one go about unrooting the Thunderbolt after manually rooting it with adb? Please be specific about terminology (ex: flashing??) - remember, I'm a beginner.

Lastly, I have a simple question in regard to an app. I moved over the VVM.apk over to my "Bloatware" folder on my sdcard, and I wanted it back. So, I figured moving it back to the /system/app/ folder would do the trick. However, the VVM tab (the one next to the text messaging tab) still doesn't show up - and yes, I did reboot. So, how do I go about getting my visual voicemail back?

Thanks for your help.

Unrooting the tb is like 50 times easier than rooting it , its as simple as downloading the original ruu and puting it on your SD card and reboot .
