Could someone please provide a checklist for me to confirm that my phone is properly rooted? I just want to make sure that everything is in order(nand unlocked, etc) before I try to install cyanogen mod.

I apologize. Evo 4G. Well when I got this phone it had S-off with an hboot version 2.16(apparently this is abnormal?). I installed Amon ra recovery and created a backup. So I guess I really did nothing to root it.

I flashed the superuser app and installed titanium backup and busybox.

Wrong forum - already reposted in the correct area.

Make sure your Hboot says S-off, make sure you can boot into your custom recovery, make sure you can make a Nandroid...etc. Flash a new ROM and definitely use Root Checker like Outlaw suggested. :)

Sent from the greatest HTC EVO 4G ever made!!!

Pull your battery out then put in back in the hold the power button and volume down button when it reboot let go the buttons the in recovery at the top it will show the hboot

Yeah, I can boot into that menu, but I could do that before. What about it shows that I'm rooted?

OK boot to recovery then let it sit a few seconds using volume buttons go down to recovery phone will flash white screen then to your custom recovery if you have it installed

Is booting to recovery the same as booting to hboot?

No, booting to hboot is just booting to hboot, from there you can boot to recovery. Or you can boot to recovery without going through hboot if you download quickboot from the market. Or if your cutom Rom has a modified shutdown menu, you can do it from there.

Ok. I can do that.

SHould my hboot still be 2.16?

I'm wondering this. This seems to be the odd sticky point. If I'm rooted this should be something else?
