Rooting complications...

I have an Android phone. I am trying to root my phone. I downloaded an app that says on how to root a phone on the Play Store and followed the instructions. Then I downloaded an app from the internet. I just tapped the button "Root" and it says that my phone is rooted but the SU is not installed. The app that I downloaded from the Play Store also says download "CPU-Z" to check for root access. Then I checked if it has root access. It says that my phone is rooted. I became happy that time. Then I download Root Checker from Play Store. It says that my phone is not rooted. Is it really rooted or not?

Have you installed Supersu yet? If not, you should probably start there.
