Im new to android, and have just bought a new relatively cheap tablet for testing applications. Its an Huawei mediapad youth 2. It has surprisingly good performance considering the price I paid for it, quad core processor, gig ram. it runs jelly bean 4.3

The reason Im posting is that Huawei dont release any updates or support this device and Id kinda like something better. Im reading about custom roms, CyanogenMod, Paranoid Android, and MIUI.

They only seem to support the big guns, Samsung, nexus etc.

Is there anything out there for the average device, say kitkat, lolipop standard that's supported with bug fixes and occasional updates.

The only roms I found relating to my device are at xda-developers.com, and the screenshots don't look great either. Would a rom like this even be good ??

Any advice most welcome, thanks

IMHO I'm also quite new to Android but here are some things that may help if you are into rooting or using different OS's

1. Any device that uses a Snapdragon CPU is sure to have good custom ROM support. While many manufacturers out there claim quad or octacore, I would really look at the CPU first. You get what you pay for :)

2. You might want to research first in XDA if the device you want to play with actually is being supported by modders. it's really hard when you realize that the device you have has bad support (especially Samsung Exynos chips!)
