Rooting Device Fix Calendar?

Does rooting the phone allow you to fix that dumb calendar bug where it only goes back to 1970?

Is that a bug? I feel like there shouldn't be a need to go 40 years into the past, I think you might be a little late for that appointment.

Evidently you don't use your phone for business contacts! Let's say you have a client, and, as is a good practice to let clients know you remember them, you keep track of their birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Putting that date in as a recurring appointment makes sure you don't forget it. Now it comes up on your calendar and, as with Android (in which the problem actually comes from the base OS, Linux) shows that the client is 40 years old. So you call or mail him/her to say happy 40th! They call back to let you know they are 53. Ok some might construe that as a compliment, but more serious clients might think you are pretty dumb to get the date wrong. The effort is lost! For me this will (unfortunately since I really like the rest of the phone), put me back in a Windows based phone as soon as Verizon starts carrying them.

Not meaning to be antagonistic but that's rather humorous to go with a different phone over someone's birth date. Here's two suggestions:

1. Simply send a Happy Birthday card and skip the need for specifying the exact age of the individual.

2. Under each contact there's the option for additional info and there is indeed a birthday field. Add their birth date and check before you mail out a card.

Seems simple enough to me.

Or in the reminder of the *date* you can put the year in title? Honestly I wouldn't imagine most older clients would want their age repeated to them anyway.

Like I said you guys are not in a client based business. Go to each client and edit with notes etc. on birthdays? Seriously? When Windows mobile does this already correctly? And yes...clients "do" appreciated, as stated many times, when you remember personal facts about them. Knowledge is power. In my business it is also money!

OK, well then it's clear you've made your decision. Go with the Windows phone then. Best of luck.
