rooting for Newbies

I would like to root my S4 once it arrives but have never done it before. Could someone please send me a link with information on the process and what rooting does?

One question I would ask is if I root my device what happens down the road when Samsung/Verizon release software updates? Is it better to wait a few weeks/months after all the updates are done and then root the phone?

This site walk you step by step, even have a video tutorial. The author usually explain everything that you need to know. I hope this helps.

Go to youtube and search qbking77 that guys real good at that and has tutorial videos about the S4 as well as other latest handsets.
