Yeah i cant find any videos and i have read the PSA a couple of times but I'd rather see it being done than just being told how it is done

I hear you on that one, it's a lot of steps for someone who is new to this. It's been suggested in another thread that a walk through is needed so if I have an hour to kill tonight I'm going to do it with images.

it will be done dowloading in 4 min then i will do that.... the fred u missed a meltdown by me this **** is driving me nutz =]

he ran into the same issue as carguy in this thread http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-evo-4g-roms-hacks/53789-issues-rooting.html

same method of rooting too...im still a fan of having him use this method [ROOT][GUIDE] HBoot 2.02/2.10 SOFF - There Will Be Root - Upd. 01.10.11 - xda-developers instead...but thefredelement and missjennell are more familiar with the method hes trying to use than i am...

I prefer that method as well and said as much here, but I've also read a lot of great things in the universal auto root thread. I'm making a more simplified guide of the "harder" thread for our users here.

ok so the download was no good it said central directory not found and the zip was empty! so now im downloading the ruu i dont know what else to do

From here: Index of /evo/stock/RUU/

Get: RUU_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed.exe

I've missed some pages here, what happens when you turn your phone on now?

thats odd....are you using any certain program to open it? like winzip or winrar? or just letting windows open it?

yeh thats the one im currently downloading, when i finish downloading that what do i do? When i turn on my phone its just the white evo screen and it stays there, so i pull out my battery out of panic

What happens if you press recovery from the white menu (sorry if you've gone of this before)

With that file, once downloaded, it's a windows EXE, so just plug your phone in and open it in windows and it'll restore your phone to 3.7 factory.

I'm going to wait for this. There's typos in the xda thread that make me wonder exactly what I'm supposed to be doing or seeing.
