i've went thru so many threads and forums and got tired of hearing a bunch of crap about ppl having the ZVD SW is not capable of being rooted because of the OTA update that LG pushed out, well thats a bunch of bull**** lol, cuz i went to sprint and bought this phone, updated the phone before even leaving the store not knowing that z4root wouldn't work if i did that, well now i have SW version ZVD on my phone and alot of the rooting stuff i was finding wouldn't work, well i finally found gingerbreak v1.2, and i downloaded it straight off the internet on my phone, used astro file manager and installed it, then use the gingerbreak app to root my phone, and it worked, i've been using wireless tethering for root users app on my phone to tether the internet from my phone to my laptop for a few months now with no problem, so i don't see why everyone is having problems rooting this phone with the ZVD software on their phone??? this worked for me with no problems so it should work for u, not a guarantee but this is how i did it and i'm letting everyone else know, oh, and i've used this app to root and unroot my phone over and over again and it still hasn't bricked my phone, the reason i'm telling everyone about this gingerbread v1.2 is because on every thread i've went to i don't see nothing about it, everyones still focused on z4root for no reason, thx, if anyone has questions u can private message me, i'll be glad to answer any questions

The only issues I have seen is people not understanding the rooting instructions, which is understandable because rooting tends to be a bit of a high level task. In case you weren't aware, there is also the Gingersnap Root Utility which runs on all 3 major platforms and many have reported success.

Did rooting your phone break the period button?
