Rooting LG Spectrum

Saluki, i dont say this often, but i do not recommend that you root your phone. adb is the most basic of android tools to set up. If you are having issues with it, i can guaranty that you would not be able to set up you system to flash you phone should you do something with root permission that shouldnt be done (ie. deleting the launcher).

I have successfully rooted two HTC phones prior to this, but have not had these sort of basic connection issues. I am certainly capable of dealing with handling a rooted phone, but I do appreciate your concern :)

I have figured it out. As I found in a post in another thread here, the connection should be set to Modem, not Ethernet.

adb - Android Debug Bridge. A command line tool that lets the computer communicate with your Android device. Well, it does more than that, but in this case it is necessary for the root tool to be able to communicate with your device.

Which roots willl work on my optimus s? I want an easy fast root that doesnt take a pc unless their isnt one out yet. PLEASE HELP ME GUYS IM NEW!!!!!

Saluki, I know you are not crazy, I had the exact same issues. I tried it on every computer I own (one with Windows 7, one with XP, and even a Linux just for kicks) and nothing worked. I was about to give up and take it back to Verizon, but was able to do a quick Google search and find something called the "AllinOnePackageSpectrum.zip" and it was like magic. It installed CWM as well and was incredibly quick and painless to get done. If you still haven't rooted your phone and somehow can't find it, let me know over PM and I can e-mail you the .zip file.

Ok, I've been at this for about an hour and half; and its saying *daemon started successfully*. So, where did I go wrong or does it take this long???

That usually means you're either using the wrong USB driver (there are several) or your phone isn't in modem mode.

I found the problem. The LG Spectrum doesn't come with the debug option. you have to download "USBDebug" from the Market.

"I'm Rooted Now Baby!!!"

Hey guys. Let me just tell you that if any of you are having problems with permission denied errors try this.
If you're using the LG drivers, make sure that their red icon isnt showing up in the system tray. If it is then right click and exit it. Apparently, for me at least, this software must block some commands sent to the device from 3rd party apps. Exiting it fixed all permission denied problems I had on my LG Ally and now my LG Lucid...

Hope this helps some of you because it was frustrating as hell for me!!
