rooting my galaxy tab s 10.5 due to Samsung MM let down

I am looking for advice for rooting my tab.

I have spent the few days emailing samsaug in regards to MM update being released on my device. After a load of bull defult answers i am waiting for a clear yes or no, weather i get one i dont know but i asked.

This is a decision i am not taking likely but i feel i have no choice and hope to do it right first time.

Can anyone suggest which rom i should use that is as close to MM as it can be and a safe site to dowload it from?

I have never done this before but i have read up on it quite a bit. I am going to use odin to root my device to start with but any other tips or safe sites i should visit would be much appreciated.

I had a reply from samaung and its good news, galaxy tab s 10.5 is 100% getting the MM update. When is still out, so no rooting for me

Can you provide some information. You say 100% and I really hope you're right, but I'm a bit sceptical since others are reporting a definitive 0%. I'm already running marshmallow on my Tab S T800, but there are a few minor glitches that would immediately be ironed out with a stock marshmallow release.

Edit:

Looks like the T805 got the first MM update today. There is still some speculation if it is due to an obligation with cell providers, or if all variants will receive the update. I certainly hope they release it for all.

Good news anyway.

I expect several more releases over the next few weeks. The wifi variants will probably be the last to receive an update, if the update comes at all. It will be up to the custom ROM community to cook up a stock marshmallow ROM for us if none is released. The 805 Official ROM may be enough.

Currently they're only updating LTE versions.

They are probably feeling obligated to only updating the more expensive LTE models.
Those cheap wifi models with the crappy Samsung exynos chipsets aint worth updating I guess.

Here in Germany, buying a tablet with only wifi isn't wise. Up until recently wifi laws have been very strict. This is probably the reason why many Germans have tablets with LTE and probably the reason why Samsung chose Germany first to upgrade it's Tab S tablets with LTE.

The German government has cleared the way for open and private WiFi hotspots. A provider liability law that makes hotspot providers responsible for users' activity has long limited public WiFi and is set to be scrapped.

In a dispute over a new Telemedia Act, the German government agreed on Wednesday to relax the country's restrictive WiFi rules, which had previously left many German businesses unwilling to provide free Internet access to the public.

Private hotspot providers in Germany are liable for the misconduct of users. If, for example, a user were to download music or a movie on a particular hotspot, the provider ran the risk of being sued for piracy. As a result, public WiFi in Germany has long been hard to come by - much to the annoyance of the German public.

When and if the wifi only versions, worldwide, get the update depends on Samsung's willingness to support the Exynos chipsets. It doesn't look hopeful.

I rooted my wifi model to cyanogenmod 12.1 (android 5.1.1). It is much better imo to samsung android 5.0.2. Also, it got rid of all the Samsung bloatware.

CyanogenMod doesn’t have a 13 version (android Marshmallow equivalent) for my SM-T800 yet (at least that I can find) but XDA forum discusses a marshmallow variant and working on a Nougat one (maybe available already, not sure). I'm happy with cynagenmod mod for now. It's faster than my previous Samsung install and doesn’t have the annoying lag in certain apps I was experiencing.

That's crazy. Normally it's the WiFi versions that get updated more quickly.
