Rooting Problems

Hey All,

I got an Xperia Z5 Premium a little while ago and wanted to root it. Previously I had an Xperia T2 Ultra which I rooted with ease. However, I cannot root the Z5 Premium and I don't know why.

I unlocked the Bootloader and verified that in the Service Menu where it says ''Bootloader Unlocked: Yes''.

However, when I try to root, and I must admit I am using a ''One Click'' solution as I did with the T2 Ultra, it says ''Root Failed''.

I installed Root Checker which tells me: ''Sorry ! This device does not have proper root access'' so there's definitely something not right.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums. I think a better approach would be to flash a custom recovery, like TWRP, and then install a superuser .zip file.

Thank you for your welcome and thank you for your reply. I am cautious of performing the root manually as I don't want to end up bricking the phone. Is it safe?

If you can find a version of TWRP fro your device, everything should be alright. There is always a small chance of bricking the device before this happens but there is a small chance of bricking devices with OTA updates too.

Did you ever root it? I want to root mine too, but I don't want to lose my license keys I keep hearing about. Only reason I want to root is for the unlimited hot spot feature I used to do on a Nexus 5. About to get a tablet radio for my car and don't want to be limited to 3GB of hotspot
