Rooting questions...

I am pretty new to Android, having it for only the last couple of months. I'm enjoying the experience, much better than iOS for sure. However I am really considering rooting, coming from a tech background I cant help but want to do more. However I've never rooted a phone before; and was wondering if ya'll could give me a some tips and trick as to how to root and just general information. I apologize in advance if there is a thread out there for this. Also was wondering what were some of the best roms out there? I have been reading alot about CM10 i believe its called. I'm thinking I want a jelly bean rom. which i believe is what that particular rom is.

Best advice is read, read read.... I know its not what we all want to hear but to do it right and not have the worries of screwing something up its the way to go.

We have quite a few threads in the AT & T Rooting & Hacking forums that cater to what your asking about rooting, ROMs and even CM10.

Above all else mentioned if you question anything, please do ask before attempting and getting yourself in a bad situation. The few extra minutes or hours you wait for a proper response to your question(s) will be worth the hassles in the long run.

Thanks! I've watched a couple videos that show how to do it. And i've read a couple different articles. It seems easy enough, to root atleast. I think i may try to root tonight, and maybe try flashing a rom tomorrow. Thanks for your advice! And please if you or any one else has anymore more i am more than willing to listen!

Okay I managed to root, it took me a couple times but i got it. i used this [HOW TO] Easiest Root and Recovery: SGS3 LTE Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, Rogers - xda-developers

Rooting is pretty easy and useful! Its not as hard as it seems to be...its almost as easy as jailbreaking an iPhone...just gotta follow the steps
