Hello,

Quick question, and sorry if it's a dumb one. Have my Nexus 5 arriving today and want to root it as soon as possible. When I first power it up will I take the Kit Kat update, then root, and then take the Kit Kat update again after everything resets?

Thanks for any help!

No, a reset WONT wipe the update. so update it, then root and do a reset. you are done

Yes, I did root. Enjoying it! As far as root apps, I'm using Titanium Backup and Root Explorer so far. Also am investigating Greenify. As far as rooting, I followed this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnlUdjUaD3Q&feature=youtu.be

Cool! I unrooted last night and restored the factory 4.4 image then pushed the update (4.4.1) to the device then re rooted. A fun process and very useful that you understand it just in case a restore is needed.
