I just got this glorious giant, switching from the corpse of my dead One X. Because of its sizeable modding community, I'm used to a lot of ROMs and hacks and stuff. I know there won't be the same amount here given the newness of the phone and its lower popularity, but I haven't been able to find anything whatsoever rooting/ROM related.

TL;DR: Can I have a link to rooting methods for the AT&T model and do any ROMs even exist?

Have you tried XDA?

Right. I'm a moron. Rooting and recovery is there, but there aren't any ROMs, which is depressing. I hope that with the supposed arrival of this thing on more carriers there will be more support.

Also since when was the word "i.diot" (minus the period) automatically blocked out?

You don't need to be rude. I was simply asking a question.
Have you checked on Cyanogen website if your device is supported?

I wasn't attempting to be rude. I was legitimately facepalming because I forgot to check there. Apologies.

I have been searching a little and I am coming up with nothing. Not Cyanogen, AOKP, Slim, am about to try Carbon now.

I was anxiously waiting for roms too, but after using the OGP for a couple of months now and becoming more and more familiar with the UI I think I'm just going to stick with it.... unless something dramatically innovative comes out anyway :). I have rooted, installed Titanium backup and froze all the bloatware, that was really all I cared about anyway. This phone is exceedingly fast and smooth out of the box. If you haven't found a link for how-to root it's here How to "root" your Optimus G Pro AT&T - xda-developers

Installing a different launcher will open up more custom options as well.

AFAIK there wont be any custom ROMs and the like till they can unlock the bootloader. I know that some people are trying over on XDA to do so. It will just take more time to get the bootloader unlocked before they can do more with the device.

They are using loki to get around the boot loader and there is on rom on the xda forums

Over on XDA they baked Loki into cwm & twrp so that the rom devs don't have to worry about putting it in their ROMS.

Also, there is an alpha version of cm 10.1 in the works and it seems to be coming along nicely.

Having said all that, I'm not worried about ROMS. I rooted and installed TB to freeze the bloat, installed a launcher and I'm happy.

I don't miss that vicious cycle of installing ROMS every other day.

They have cyanogenmod for the device now on xda. I'm currently running it and it's extremely smooth. So far the camera and Bluetooth don't work. The device specific features will be developed after these two features are developed.

By device specific features do you mean the IR blaster and things like that?

Yep, though they've said the LED should be working in the next release.
