I just received my Razr Maxx (not sure why these 2 forums aren't combined since they are effectively the same phone minus the battery) and haven't even cracked the box yet.

I was thinking about rooting using the Dan Rosenberg Motofail method. However, I want the ICS OTA update when it arrives.

Is there an easy way to unroot w/o doing a full refresh and clearing all data? On my Dx when I rooted I was unable to do the Froyo to GB update after rooting so I am concerned about being able to unroot.

Thanks.

I did motofail method myself too... to my knowledge/experience from 172 build to 173 build, as long as your on rooted stock 173 build with no bloatware frozen or deleted, and you have voodoo rootkeeper installed, and it made a backup of superuser SU, then all you need to do get the OS update, let it do its thing/download/install/self reboot, and walla... new OS version and still rooted... no unroot needed

This is my plan of action.... bu there are some unroot methods in the rooting/hacking forums above, like doomlord's unroot method

Just saw a YouTube video for uprooting DROID RAZR. Go to YouTube. Search unroot DROID RAZR. Should be first link listed by a person named z something.

To easy. Lol lol lol no more tools!!! Just pure Linux and ADB Shell. This will be my backup plan if voodoo doesn't work for ICS update. Lol
