Row of apps below search bar

All of a sudden I have a row apps below the search bar. I would like to remove them. How do I do it

If thats in Google search bar , not aware you can disable those icons as they your recently used apps

The most maddening thing is that this happened once before about 6 months ago and either found a solution on the net or someone on a forum had a solution that worked. I can't find it now

Yeah, I don't see an option to get rid of that either on my 6 Pro.

I don't have apps under my search bar when I open it. I'll see if I can remember how to remove it.

Yeah -- unfortunately, I think this is the inevitable consequence of adding options and versatility. It's much simpler if you just don't have options (like certain other operating systems >ahem<)!

The main reason why I didn't think to try that option was that it specifically talks about the All Apps list (i.e., the App Drawer), and not the Google Search widget. But clearly it applies to both!
