Android 13A-5G
This will be hard to explain, but I'll do the best I can. All software is up to date.
Usually, my opening screen will have the icons for those apps I use most frequently. The screen has 4 icons in a row, with their titles under each icon. Now, apparently all of a sudden, there is a fifth column that will allow for 5 icons in a row and the titles are truncated to a maximum of 5 letters followed by ... when the title is more than 5 letters. I'd like to return to my original opening screen that only had 4 icons in a row. Thanks.

If you don't know what I mean by launcher, I would guess that you are using the default One UI Home launcher and that you haven't installed a third party launcher. If so, some good info on the Samsung One UI Home Launcher and how to set icons may be found HERE.

FYI, the phone's name is "Galaxy A13 5G" -- what was throwing us was that you said "Android 13A", so we thought you were saying that your phone was running Android 13 (i.e., the OS version).

Can you show us a screenshot of what you're seeing?

Hey guys, from your replies I was able to do some more research. I believe that I am using the One UI Home launcher (Software Info>One UI Core 5.1, Apps>One UI Home Installed.) But, to be honest, although I tried following the instructions from https://www.androidpolice.com/samsung-one-ui-home-guide/, I am still thoroughly confused and would appreciate your guidance helping me get back to my original home screen settings (4 columns, not 5.)......HOLD ON!

While typing up this, I started fooling around with the settings for the 50th time, and stumbled upon the solution: Apps>One UI Home>Home Screen (One UI Home)>select One UI Home (Weather Radar Launcher had been selected.) I have no idea how the unwanted change had occurred as I know this was the first time I have entered this app. Hold on AGAIN: Figured out what caused the change. I had installed and must have selected Radar Weather Launcher!

So now that this issue has been solved, I do have one other question: My icon apps are being duplicated in other screens. Is it OK to delete the duplicates without loosing the one that want on a specific screen?

Anyway, here's a home screen shot of the unwanted screen. And thanks for you help.

Good job figuring out the launcher issue!

Homescreen icons are simply shortcuts -- you can remove them without uninstalling the app. If you open the App Drawer, though (i.e., swiping up from the bottom of the screen to bring up the list of all apps that are installed) and remove an icon there, that will uninstall the app. Pay close attention to the option that comes up -- if it says "Remove", that means you're just removing a shortcut, but if it says "Uninstall", then you're completely uninstalling it from the device.

Thanks. I'll give it a try...very carefully.

I was able to move app icons into wanted positions (without uninstalling any of them.) However, in doing so, I must have unknowingly done something that I didn't want to do. Namely, it appears that my chosen home screen is no longer the home screen. That is, when selecting the circle icon at the bottom, it no longer brings up my chosen home screen, but rather it brings up what used to be my secondary screen (the screen that would come up after swiping the home screen right to left) and has made it the home screen. I would like to know how to get back to where selecting the circle icon would bring up the original home screen? Thanks.

I don't currently have my Galaxy A32 in front of me, but I think you long-press an empty part of the home screen, then when the home screen editing interface comes up, swipe to what you want to be your primary home screen, and tap the Home icon at the top.

I did as you suggested, and I think it worked. But, I do need a little clarification to know if it is really working the way I think it originally worked. Let's say that I now open an app from the secondary screen (the screen that holds app icons [these apps can safely be removed from screen without deleting the app] that are not on the home screen-they are my overflow apps, and are seen when swiping the home screen right to left. Once that app is opened and I select the circle at the bottom, I am brought back to the secondary screen from which the app came. Now selecting the circle while in the secondary screen, I am brought to my home screen. The problem is that I think that no matter where I am, when selecting the circle at the bottom, I should be brought to my home screen and not to the screen from which the app was opened. Of course, I could be wrong in thinking this is the way it was working???

So when you scroll between home screen you have an icon of a house tap that and that will be your first home page , I circled in red my screenshot

Ok you should be good to Go
Well, in a way I am. But, there is one thing that I'm not sure about. Am I correct that when tapping the circle icon at the bottom, no matter which app I opened, or wherever I am, shouldn't that always bring me back to the Home screen? Well, in my case, it doesn't. If I open an app from any screen other than the Home screen, and the tap the circle icon, I will be brought back to the screen that the opened app came from and not the Home screen. However, in this case a second tap of the Home icon (circle at bottom) does then bring me back to my chosen Home screen. In other words, two taps and not one of the Home icon, is needed to get to the Home screen. The only time that a single tap of the circle brings me to the Home screen is when the app was opened from the Home screen, itself.

Which circle icon on the bottom?
Once you set the home page that should be your default and close it out

The behavior you're describing is as intended. If you open an app, and then tap the Home button (or use the Home gesture, it will return you to the last homescreen you were on. Tapping Home again will then bring you to the primary homescreen.
