running gummychargedGBE1.5 now, can I format my SD card?

I just flashed gummychargedGBE1.5 and have a lot of crap left on my sd card. I have my music and videos backed up on my computer.

I would like to clean up my sd card...but not sure if it is safe to do. I can reload my apps, music, videos, etc.

Can I use the phone to format my sd card....or will it erase files on there that I need.
