I noticed on my new S8 that when playing games it no longer gets hot like my S7 does. I keep Pokemon go open while driving to work each day. (I know I am about the only one that still plays it.. LOL) On the S7 with about 50% brightness in a 20 to 30 minute drive it would be blazing hot. On my S8 on the way in this morning with around the same 50% screen brightness it was just warm. They are not in identical cases (S7 in Spigen Neo Hybrid) (S8 in Spigen Tough Armor) but its good that its running cooler than the S7 by quite a few degrees. I know heat and electronics are not good for them in the long run so this is a good change. Lets hope the Note 8 runs just as cool as the S8 does.

It's because the SD 835 uses 10nm process technology while the S7 used a 14nm chip. Better efficiency, less heat. Note 8 will be the same.

This is GREAT news! Thanks.

Yeah this phone barely gets warm, even while charging. A little warm with extended use, but that's any phone.

Definitely the coolest running phone I've had. Hopefully it's the same with VR, because my note 7 and wife's s7 get scary hot after 30 min of VR.

Yes with VR the Note 7 would get really hot. To the point I am surprised it did not shut down. This should work well with the VR stuff when it gets here.
