Running Oreo. No problems yet.

The official Oreo on S8 and find a bug daily and it's b4 and nearly two months in. And probably see light of day come February sometime, maybe after S9 series announced - but before they ship.

I'll just wait for the official release. I don't mess with beta versions and would rather get the good copy than risk my phone. I'd rather get it when it's ready.

I totally agree. It is bad enough for some people even when an official new operating system gets released. Some will complain of slow downs and poorer battery life. So why risk it with a beta version? I really think the real test for the N8, or any phone for that matter, will be how trouble free the official update goes. Hopefully, it will go well and the lag that updates for older Notes have caused, will not happen now. But why the rush to test this?

Wife just upgraded to 8.1 on my old Nexus 6P. There is nothing in Oreo that either of us use, or have found useful over Nougat. So I have no problem waiting for the official release. All I care about is that it's a stable, bug free update whenever it finally arrives.
I liked my 6P. How long have you had it and do you plan to go to the Note 8 soon?

I bought it when it first came out. Replaced my S5. It sat in a drawer for a year when I moved to the Note 7 and then S7 Edge. Wife is kind of interested in the Pixel 2's, so figured she'd try out the Nexus to get a feel for them. So I un-rooted it and installed stock Oreo for her. I liked the 6P when I used it, and the wife is liking it now. Good phone. The only down side I ever found was the reception in sketchy signal areas was not as good as my Galaxy phones. And the battery life, while okay, has never been as good as newer Galaxy's.

Any specific significant improvements, features, etc when running Oreo on the N8 ?

Damn I can't wait for Oreo, I hoped at least Samsung could have opened up official beta sign up for Note 8 like they have done for S8 series.

I have it on S8+, also it's BETA and req'd factory wipe, twice.
One app wrote a cache log using all free space and then some; the other time Settings was in a constant crash loop.

Best when installed and tested on a spare phone or when you have a reliable backup phone. Some have had trouble making or receiving calls.

B5 list of changes is probably not all known outstanding issues and bugs. So consider yourselves lucky. 7.1.1 is fine as is. And Oreo will not bring Project Treble, for that you'll need a Galaxy 9 series.

I know some have had problems, but my experience with the beta has been fantastic. I understand waiting though.
