S-Voice Settings

I'm looking for them around the internet and I can't seem to find the answer.

On my Note II and my S III I was able to use S-Voice by double tapping the home button and it would immediately open into S-Voice. On the Note 3, same thing, but the only difference is I have to push the mic button on the screen and the read back to me button is always back in the off setting.

I want to open it, and then talk, not have to hit the button every time it is my turn to talk.

For instance, if I want to call my wife, my actions are as follows...

• Double press home button
• Tap Microphone button
• Say "Call wife"
• Press button again
• Say "Yes"

I want to just double tap then talk.

Why don't you use the built in voice control. .. hi Galaxy > call wife

The hi galaxy command only works when it is asleep and that function is turned on, otherwise you have to "open" it to use it. Same with using the google anywhere.

If you browse people using S-Voice, they aren't having to press the button or keep saying Hi Galaxy to make it listen. That has to be the way it was intended to work and the way it used to work on the past phones (actually still does work on those phones) but not on these... It is seeming more and more like it is only on verizon phones.

Using that, the actions go like this:

• Me: "Hi Galaxy"
• App opens and does nothing
• Me: "Hi Galaxy"
• the app is now listening
• Me: "Call Wife"
• it then has the question on the screen "Confirm you want to call Wife"
• Me: "Hi Galaxy..." wait for it to start listening again "Yes"
• The call starts

This is how it should work:

• "Hi Galaxy"
• The app opens and listens
• Me: "Call Wife"
• the phone says "Do you want to call Wife" then listens
• Me: "Yes"
• then it calls

The second one is hands off and the first one has the potential to be hands off but is not operating the correct way.

It isn't reading back properly and it isn't starting to listen when it should. These are the settings I am looking for and can't find.

There is an app called open mic+ on the play store which will listen for your hot phrase and then activate google voice search which is does the same thing as s voice, that I have found. Just a suggestion...

The thing is I like the way S-Voice worked before and just want to return to that. I appreciate the suggestion, but I am beginning to wonder if I"m the only one with this issue...

Not sure or not many people use s voice. If I press my home screen button twice it takes me to the home screen and thats it. I have never used voice control much, but I am going to start playing with it.

My Galaxy S4 worked like you're talking about. I wish my note 3 would work the same as the S4

i just tried it on mine and it will open if the screen is off and I say "Hi galaxy" but if I'm on the home screen already and say "Hi galaxy" it won't do anything. From the blank screen I can say "hi galaxy, call home" and it will just call, so that is great but I would love it to work from any screen, not just the blank screen.

Not sure if you figured this out yet, but if not...
go into the actual S-Voice app and click settings. Check the "Open via Home Key" box

That's not good for s voice that it needs to be open to work I guess I'm sticking with Google as longest I'm in home page all I have to say is ok Google and it works

I changed my default search to use OK Google to search on double tap. rather than the poorly developed S Voice. Here's a how to on it.

You only have to say it 2x if you record your own command. If you use the base command it auto launches the mic. I have been dealing with the same issue on my Galaxy Note 4. Very annoying.
