S10 Assisted Dialing

I have an Unlocked S10 bought from samsung on Verizon. Recently when traveling to Mexico I haven't been able to call out of Mexico like I could on my iPhones or Pixel devices. I always get the message that I have incorrectly dialed after pressing the contact in my list. The Assisted Dialing option doesn't show up under phone app-settings-other call settings.

Is there anything I am missing? Data and texting works great down there. I recently removed the +1 or just 1 in front of numbers in my contacts but haven't been down there to test that.

I assume you've looked throughout all of the Phone app's settings, right? In Google's own Phone app (on Pixel phones), the Assisted Dialing option is on the main Phone settings menu (i.e., not in the "Other Call Settings" menu).

I have looked everywhere. In the settings app, and in the Samsung phone app. It is supposed to be here but is not even an option.

It's on the phone its probably automatically set in the phone app

I found that by searching it in the settings app. So it is just baked into the phone and should be dialing out on it's own?

Yeah that's what I'm thinking , it's no where else.

Also just enabled Location for the Phone App Permissions. I guess Ill just have to try these changes the next time I go down there.

Have the same issue. Same unlocked phone via Verizon. The assisted dialing app doesn't ask for location permission. This is a bug.

Downloaded the Google phone app ported to S10 and it works fine.


It's given my family of iPhone users something to laugh about....

What do you mean ? The Stock Dialer app doesn't ask for location permission?

That's correct. Stock application doesn't ask for permission or have an option for assisted dialing under settings (see screenshots above). On last day of vacation, I get it to work... Lol

I haven't had the chance to try this out but I talked to Samsung and they told me to talk to Verizon. Samsung said it was on Verizon's end and that the calling feature in Mexico needed to be added. I talked to Verizon and they confirmed that data and text were setup but not calling on this line. They enabled it and like I said I havent tried it yet. Next I am going to port the google phone dialer. Hoping to try this before July since i have a Europe trip then. I never had to take this step from iPhone to Pixel but who knows.

Just tried it out in Mexico today and whatever Verizon changed on my account wasn’t enough. Luckily I can still dial out with 001 before the number but it is just one of those annoying things. I agree that this is something to do with the Samsung Phone app not handling international calls correctly. For now Ill just use 001 to dial any numbers in Mexico.
