It's very difficult to stay away from this beautiful screen. I really love iMessage but I'm back, for now. I hope the carriers get moving with RCS.

Two things that keep me from 100% commiting to Samsung and Android in general is iMessage and the Apple Watch. If Android can get that killer lightning in a bottle watch that would nearly make me Android only. I can forget iMessage and cope just fine but man I miss my watch when using my S10+.

I wish carriers would get on board with RCS but seeing as how it has been years with very little progress my hope isn't much.

I think RCS is yet another failed Google project. Swisscom was supposed to intro it half a year ago but according to some people in the forums, they’ve since abandoned their plans for it and have stopped the project indefinitely.

It isn't a Google product...

They're the driving force behind it though. I know that Swisscom was working with Google to implement RCS. Either Google pulled the plug on the project here or Swisscom did - in any case, it's DoA.

It will come, just a slow rollout like 5G, which is a way higher priority for carriers, at least in the US. Google wants everyone to adopt it so they can finally come up with a iMessage competitor, and get free of the SMS limitations. Google is at the mercy of carrier support.

um, have you tried the Galaxy Watch?

um, have you tried the Galaxy Watch?

Yeah, don't like it at all. Tried the S3 and the Galaxy Watch. Neither are close to the Apple Watch. Don't get me wrong 85% of the year I'm on Android but every so often I have to go back because I miss my watch.

I've tried a lot of smart watches and the Apple Watch is by far the best. that said, nowadays I wear a Tudor GMT and have given up entirely on wearables. even the Apple watch still kind of sucks and is unnecessary as a bunion.

At the same time, at $4,000, the Tudor is in a different league and isn't even a smartwatch. I'm not saying you were comparing them but it's a lot different lol.

I don't see what's special about iMessage or Apple Watch. Apple has done a good job at creating a cult like mentality.

So .. have you used them? I mean I find it comical you call them a cult when you follow Samsung in the same fashion yet.. you somehow think that is okay but not for others to like something else?

Ik, it just means that I don't need a smart watch and have never found one that actually has any kind of benefit to me. Wearing a regular watch is "good enough" for me

What's special about iMessages is that it just works. It's a completely seamless experience. It's unfortunate that no company has managed to do anything similar for iOS.

As for the apple watch - it's just slightly better than then restb (more apps, thinner etc). Other than that, there's really not much to say about it. I suppose the health features are beneficial to some.

yea i liked imessage as well.

i think it isn't implemented yet on Android due to patent issues or cost issues.

its a free messaging app which offers all the goodies from text to video share. so it requires lots of bandwidth and also you gotta have to have lots and lots redundant storage and backup.

it's a service, and people demand to have their messages sent, even if the other person has their phone down for like a two week vacation somewhere on an lonely island

also, if android had something similar, it would render all other messaging apps useless.. kinda..

if Android had an i(a)Message and it would also be able to send to Apple's imessage, that'd be to huge i think.

imessage as it is now is just a gimmick for apple consumers. but it would take over the whole market if it were available on Android as well.

Lol so now iMessage is a gimmick?

Let’s be honest here people, the reason people like it is that it is a default app that works incredibly well and does pretty much everything g you could want perfectly and seamlessly.

There is no need for anything else in terms of messaging when you are on an iPhone since it doss most of what the larger majority of users need on a daily basis.

Is it perfect? Almost, does it miss a few things, sure it does, but it ticks the boxes in so many areas that the missing features are mostly forgotten about or not needed.

There are tons of people with iPhones and if you communicate with those people it is basically perfection.

Why do you think WhatsApp is an international standard with millions of user, it’s basically the same as iMessage.

yea, iPhone /ios has only about a quarter to a third market share according to these data sheets

https://deviceatlas.com/blog/android-v-ios-market-share

so apple consumers are happy with their imessage, but only within apples closed down device family.

it's an apple feature and as long as all your family /friends / colleagues use ios as well, imessage is just perfect. but once you'll have to send to some of the others of the remaining two thirds or three quarters of the remaining market share of devices, you're limited to text only.

doh, imessage is really neat, it'd be happy if android had a counterpart to it and it'd be to perfect if these two could communicate with each other as well without limitations and costs.

Yeah if they would just make the apple watch work on android I could do it. They wouldn't do that bc they know this. I thought about switching back to my garmin fenix 5 but it's still not up to par with the apple watch. I love my sapphire black stainless steel watch with thr black milanese band. They're no android watch substitute unless you go the tag connected route but that's even more $$$.
