S10+ won't charge in car

Got a brand new s10 plus and it charges fine with the wall charger. When I plug in the car charger (same cable) it says it could take 16 hours and prompts me to check the charger and cable. It's a Samsung Fast charging car charger that worked just fine on my s8. Any ideas as to why?

I would try another fast car charger or if you have different power source to plug into the car.

I don't happen to have another car charger handy. I did note that the worked fine with the s8. It would be a strange coincidence that the charger would go bad on the day I upgraded my phone.

I understand, but you also said it fast charges when plugged to a wall and you used the same cable the s10 came with so that leaves the car charger , maybe it's not enough to fast charge the s10 but does for s8?

My girlfriend has a Samsung fast adaptive charger for her S7 that wouldn't fast charger her S10 I had to get her a new one from Amazon and the new one does say fast charging.
