Here's my brief summary of using the S2 9.7 for a month:

- the number 1 reason why I chose it over the apple was that the Samsung allows external memory card - i got the 128gb and it's a ton of space. Unlike the apple where i was always running out of space and have to decide what to keep and what to remove.....arrrrrghhhh. What if i want everything?

- love the fact that it's not APPLE - so everything works like how a desktop works - filing system, chrome etc....feels like home and not locked into that apple Itune crap. We have an apple but I could never figure how to make a website a favourite. With the Android system like the S2 it's just like the desktop - just click on the star! Freakin brilliantly simple

- screen is bright and sharp

- it's light - very bloody light....probably the lightest 9.7 incher tablet in the market. Easy to hold it in the hand to read.

- for that the battery sucks big time - you can see the battery precentage drop every few minutes - i wouldn't want to be relying on the S2 all day for business/professional work without being close to a powerpoint or an external battery.

Can't say much of performance because all i do is read pdf magazines via Xodo (it's the perfect PDF reader) and watch a bit of 'garden shed' movies.....

I just deleted fb on my 9.7...hope this helps the battery life

I wouldn't say it was terrible. I would usually get 3 days of use out of it

I have had a 9.7 since mid December, works great get usually 4-5 days in a charge, I don't pound on it all day long. It is so fast compared to my original nexus 7. My old eyes like the bigger screen. Very satisfied, planning on only taking it on a business trip (no laptop) for a conference in March. Did get a keyboard case and 64 GB SD card. Also have a S5 phone which was major factor in the tablet, more or less the same OS

One other factor I don't do social media pretty much at all and no FB app

Just got mine today. Didn't play with it much yet. Seems super fast , really light and great display. I am disappointed how much bloat ware is on it though after Samsung promised the S6 would have less bloat

I just got mine. Seems super fast, nice screen, and ultralight but boy did Samsung add the bloat. 2 browsers Cnn app. Every app Microsoft makes. Ridiculous

I removed the FB app and it made a big difference. But I like using that app more. Is there a way to turn off the apps auto update so that it will only when I open it. I know I can kill the app when it's running but I'd rather it be automated.

Facebook is a HUGE battery drain. Remove that app and you'll see a noticeable improvement immediately. It's sucking resources even when you aren't using it or the tablet is sleeping.

Another pro point for the S2 -
  1. I love how the usb interface is not centred - so when u go landscape it and you're charging it doesn't get in the way
  2. i always love the samsung back key icons on the bottomw - when i used the IPad i never knew how to return to where i was.

That's a really good point about the USB port...I never thought about that
