Was dorking around on my tablet tonight and noticed a hot spot took the case off and it was equally hot on the back side just across from the hot spot on the front also seemed like the back of the tablet is a little puffed out. Umm help? Lol

If the battery is getting swollen, that means it's failing. Does it also get pretty warm while charging, and does the battery seem to run out more quickly?

I'd bring it to a Samsung service center to get it checked out. It might be easier to bring it to a Samsung rep in a Best Buy first, though.

It doesn't have to get warm while charging for the battery to be suspect -- I was just looking for other possible signs. How about the overall battery life? Another thing would be if the battery charges more slowly than before.

I've only had it for a little over a month. Battery life seems to be the same... after everything cooled down the puffy spot seemed to go away.. I never did get an over heating warning or anything like that

Considering it's brand new, I'd try to reproduce that overheating and swelling in the presence of a Samsung rep, and push for a replacement.

Just took it to the Samsung guys at best buy, dude their laughed and said battery is junked oh well

Thanks for the followup. How old is the device? Is it still under warranty?

It's not even a month old. I got in touch with Samsung and they tried to say that being it has damage (the puffed up back case) that it was out of warranty. Needless to say it's at samsung now haha. Oh yeah, even through all this they still insisted I do a factory reset to see if that fixed the problem.. lol

It makes no sense to say that the puffed out back is due to damage that you caused. A puffed out back is usually due to a swollen battery, which is most often due to a defect in the battery itself (which is clearly not your fault). Make sure they don't try to charge you for repairs based on that!
