@mustang7757My S20 Ultra 5G will not pick up 5G. Tested an iPhone 12 side by side and the iPhone can get 5G. Both the iPhone and my S20 are on Tmobile.
My S20 is factory unlocked. Model SM-G988B/DS.
Do I have an issue with my phone being unlocked?
Picked up right away
They are both Galaxies and both similar with regard to 5G. I asked Mustang because I know he has 5G on Tmo. You might reach out to TMo to determine if there is anything you have to do but most people I know got it automatically. I'm on Verizon and the unlocked model requires an update but I didn't think that's the case with TMo.I have a Galaxy not a Note. I've never picked up a 5G signal.
It's currently now with my Att sim , that picks up if it's available 5GThey are both Galaxies and both similar with regard to 5G. I asked Mustang because I know he has 5G on Tmo. I had a similar issue with my unlocked Ultra on AT&T. It turns out that when I got the phone from Samsung, I just put the SIM card in from my previous S8 Active. Phone worked and I did not switch to a 5G plan immediately because coverage in my area was sparse. A couple weeks ago, I added the 5G plan but could not get 5G (including at the AT&T store next to a new iPhone that was getting 5G). Since I didn't purchase the carrier version, AT&T had no idea I wasn't still rocking the S8. Went to the store this weekend and got a new SIM card and AT&T updated the system to show my S20 Ultra. Now I get 5G.
