Wow! That new wasp is sure unique. I never heard of that species.

Baldy looks ferocious!

Thank ya!! That particular species of wasp is considered a parasitoid-- check it out on google-- the results are quite gnarly.

Baldy and his species can be VERY ferocious when on nest, and will secrete pheremones to signal the others in the nest to swarm a threat if the nest is messed with, and their stings are VERY painful. But when out isolated like that, they are docile creatures and it is very possible to grt close in like I did. Just no sudden or erratic movements and they wont mind a bit.

It is also said Bald faced hornets like that can remember specific faces, and I got a few snaps of him back in august

Bent line dirt moth. Got his reflection too!!

Sorry for the dirty screen door, we havent had appreciable rain but for just 2 out of the last 60 days, so it's dusty round here and its been windy

Bald faced smorgasbord today!!. Baldy brought his friends today. Bunches were feeding on some fallen apples today and I was able to get some shots in. Got to watch 2 forage on the same apple and one instance where they went "butts up"

This was a fantastic evening.

I have a picture of a wolf spider that let me hold it in my hand but i cant upload cuz it keeps saying 500 internal server error. Did it last night and tonight. Cleared my browser cache and still doing it.

Since it's still doing the 505 error when i try to upload, im trying an image hosting link. All 4 pics of the spider are here. It was sooooo cool that it hung out in my hand and it was super gentle natured.

They are a bit lacking on detail due to the lighting in my bathroom and using one hand, but i wasn't really going for detail. Was stoked to catch such a cool moment.
