New S22+ not activated. Want to send email via wifi. Get this error:
Unable to send email
Update security settings to use account xxx@xxxx.xxx

Where is that setting?

Where are you seeing this error? do you have a screen lock/pin entered? sometimes thats required for email settings...

Welcome to Android Central! Which email app are you using -- the stock Samsung one or Gmail?

Is this phone provided through work, or did you get this yourself?

It is in the default email app. I have all my emails defined using MS Exchange. The error pops up when I click on the send arrow.

It is a new unlocked phone purchased from Amazon. I would think email works with wifi only. I don't want to activate the new phone which will deactivate my old phone before I know everything else works.

Is this Exchange account from your work?

No. The phone is unlocked using a finger print. I just set up the mail accounts on the phone using the process supplied by the phone. I did migrate all the data from my old phone to new phone using the Android/Samsung default process.

Go to the Device Administrators section of the system settings. Anything there besides Find My Device and Knox?

Can you indicate where to find what you mention in the form settings/?????/?????

I can’t find a Device Administrators section under Settings.

Type device administrator in settings top search bar when results pop up tap again

This is my Settings screen and the results of using search for device administrator

Ok, that's clearly not the problem then.

Have you already tried removing that GoDaddy account, then adding it back again? Also, are you using the IMAP or POP3 server settings?

A few months ago GoDaddy did a major revamp and went to Exchange 365. As I understand it it is using MAPI, not IMAP or POP3. I have tried 2 different accounts. They give the same error message. All 6 of my accounts work fine on my S10+. I have looked at the account settings in both phones. For each account they are the same. Email address, domain/username, Exchange server, port, use SSL.

I just tried something. I removed the SIM from my S10+. It sent email from one of my accounts via wifi with no problem.

So there is something about the S22+ or Android 12.

Maybe the email app requires the phone to be activated with a SIM first.

The S10+ is running Android 12, so that isn't the case.

Well, I really don’t want to port my number then find out it does not work. Still not clear if this is an Exchange or Android problem.
