S22+ wifi email

Well, I took the old SIM card from the S10+ and put it in the S22+. After a restart to configure for SIM I tested email. Same error. I have a Google account defined.

Where does the guide you sent me say email will not work by wifi if phone does not have a SIM?

I have deleted one account and set it back up again. Somewhere in the process it asks me to update the security. Then a screen comes up titled Activate device admin app.
The app is Email. And the list of things it can do is:
Erase all data
Set Password rules
Monitor screen unlock attempts
Lock the screen’
Set storage encryption
Set device security

See attachment
And many others that I don’t see Email having any right to do.

Well, I give up. I checked the S10+ and it has Mail as a device admin app. So I enabled it on the S22+ and, voila, email over wifi worked. With no SIM card.

Just don’t understand why Mail has all those capabilities over my phone.

it is SM-S906UZKEXAA 256g. I know my S10+ is not an enterprise edition. If such a thing existed when I bought it. And Mail is a device admin app on it.

Interesting. I never use the stock Email app, so I've never noticed this. I suppose it could have Device Admin privileges on all phones since there's always the possibility the user will add a work email to the app.

I use the stock Samsung email app but with all personal accounts. It is not a device admin app on my S22U. However I have a work email account and it requires us to use the official Microsoft Outlook app. That does have device admin control.
