Just setting my s22u up. Notice that these only have 12gb RAM, where s21u has 16gb. What gives? I know can setup ram+

Only >256GB S21U models had 16GB RAM. For 256GB and below, it as 12GB, same as for 256GB S22U.

I have the S21 Ultra 512gb. 16 gb of ram isn't necessary, so I'm fine with 12. BUT what it did do is create a problem, where there isn't one. Now YouTubers are lamenting over the reduction in ram, like it's going to cause their phone to choke and spark. 12 gb is more than enough for a phone.

Samsung should have kept the ram at 16gb for the higher storage Ultra, just to keep down the noise. Going backwards never quite looks good.

Bill Gates once said no one needed more than 640K memory in their PC top. Poor optics. My point being that if the hardware is there, someone will write an app to exploit it.

Just like when everyone on the net would say that the human eye can't see more than 30fps and any more was overkill and here we have 120Hz phone/tablet displays lol.

Someone once told me many moons ago that unused Ram is wasted Ram which I believe still holds true now.

12Gb is more than enough and then there's the virtual Ram and the new implementation to be able to dictate how much can be assigned.
