Does anyone know why magsafe only charges android phones at 7.5w? I know supposedly this is a limitation of Qi that Qi2 is supposed to solve. But my S23U (and my s22u before it) charged wirelessly at 15w using Samsungs charging pad. Did that use some proprietary wireless charging protocol different than Qi?

I think it's more a limitation of the MagSafe charging system. Lot of articles out there about how it will begin charging at 15w for a few minutes then drop to 7.5w.

It's an Apple design, it's utterly shocking that it works with Android at all.

There aren't any Qi2 certified devices as far as I'm aware, so there's no reason to expect any current devices to be compatible with Qi2 or MagSafe 15w charging.

Apple devices or accessories may not be necessarily Qi certified. Thus why non Apple products, who follow Qi certification, do not work as intended with Apple proprietary accessories.
