S25 Ultra & Google Messages

I upgraded to the new S25 Ultra (from the S22 Ultra). I like having Google Messages on my computer (which I use far more than my phone) but, since getting my new phone, Google Messages struggles to open the program on my phone. I've unpaired and re-paired on my phone and computer, but I continue to have issues. Is it just that Google hasn't caught up with the technology of the new S25 Ultra, or is there another reason that I can fix?

Thanks.

Glad I could help, no worries we have great members here that you can learn some tech stuff going forward
I just upgraded to a S25 Ultra from the S22 Ultra as the OP did two days ago. I am not a Google Messages fan so I only use it on the Ultra. I did a Samsung smart switch. Google messages was fine for a day, but now I have tremendous lag. I have deleted many old messages, and pictures, cleared the cache, force stopped the app, and rebooted. But, I am still having the lag when using Google Messages. I would really appreciate any other suggestions? Thanks

Hi welcome to AC!
You tried clearing data then force stop the app? If you have back up on it will repopulate all the messages although if you have a lot it will take little time for them to populate

This worked for me, but the fix turned out to be temporary. Then I started having issues again. Strangely enough, after about a week, everything resolved on its own, and I haven't had a problem since. I figured maybe Samsung had fixed a bug in the system on the new phone.

That's good 👍🏻
Probably an update to Google Messages had a fix , it's always fixing things

Yes. I have tried that twice. I even downloaded CCleaner, paid for the professional, and tried it with that. I would be happy to uninstall and reinstall Google messages. However, it will only allow me to disable Google messages on this S25.

I even went in, and removed older text threads, that I wanted to keep, but it still did not help. I can click on the texts from "person A" and it takes up to 10 seconds for it to allow me to text. I then go into "person B", and then go back to "person A" and 10 more seconds. It is driving me crazy. I even deleted pictures, and apps I don't use. I was assuming it needed more space. I am using only 85 of the 256 now. I have shut the phone done, after all this several times.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks so much

Oh and just to add. It does this on wifi, 4g and 5g. I also do not seem to have any speed issues with any other programs/apps.

Hi , is there any updates available?

Neither for the phone nor for Google Messages. I've checked multiple times. I am thinking about deleting all the messages entirely and starting from scratch. These older messages were sent over with Samsung Smart Switch, so maybe that is the trouble.

The other weird thing is that the overall phone seems slower to start apps, etc. than the S22. So, I am thinking that maybe using the Smart Switch app to move everything over is the actual problem and I should just factory reset the damn thing and start from scratch. Or is that too drastic?

Thanks again for the help Mustang7757.

Before doing factory reset go into recovery clear cache then reboot, if still issues back up on a PC smart switch that way you can restore at anytime
