S26 ultra privacy screen

I don't really know much about the display so the 10-bit 8-Bit thing I guess don't really bother me. I'm still excited to get the phone and that alone isn't going to make me wish I hadn't gotten it.
I don't either and I bet 99.5% of people don't either. As long as it looks good is all that matters. It's a small screen, it won't take much to make it look good anyway. If nothing was said about it I bet most would have even noticed anything different

Agreed! But if I went this whole time without a screen protector on my 24 I don't think I'm going to put one on here if it's going to make the screen look different I don't know. I read on one side that it's like having a digital screen protector because of the privacy thing and the gorilla glass is heavier.

Privacy screen works decent. If you plan on having it on full time, yes you will see screen difference. If you set it to for certain apps and notifications it is fine.

Samsung needs to tweak it. Notifications in the drop down notification bar is not included in the privacy screen. If you drop the notification bar there will be no privacy screen.

I'm primarily interested in your view of the screen quality with privacy turned completely off as I figure I'll only engage it very, very rarely and, even then, for very brief periods.

Do you see any screen anomalies or degradation when privacy is not engaged?

I myself do not see the difference between the 25 and 26 when screen privacy is turned off. You will notice the screen being different with screen privacy turned on when you're on darker screens more.

So far it's nothing that would make me not get it. I don't plan on using it full time and it works good for the parameters you set. I personally think Samsung needs to update to include notifications in the notification bar.

Would be nice to hear from people that used the stick on privacy screens and this in the S26U. I feel the negative talk on the privacy screen is over blown as usual. Can it use improvement, sure I just mentioned one, but for first Gen it's good.

From Reddit:

Been playing around with my GF's s26u since yesterday. The "issue" they've been talking about has been blown out of proportion.

For context: the phone looks "clouded" on extreme view angles even if the privacy display is turned off.

Now: Who uses their phone and looks at it at an angle that thid will be noticeable? Almost zero. The only real world scenario is when there's a notification pop-up and you would only notice it for a fraction of a second. You wouldn't even notice it unless you purposedly wanted to.

Honest feedback: Whilst the "issue" exists, there's really no practical reason to be bothered by it. It's not even a real "issue" on this case.

There's a lot more Pros that you'll get from it than that single issue.

P.S. and here I'am typing this wondering if I should upgrade as well from flip 7 lol. Probably on the s27u but not for now, solely because of my phone not being a year old

So far I'm happy with the privacy screen. Is it reason enough to upgrade from the 25, probably not. I like the feature and will use it for notifications and certain apps.

I like it enough I hope it makes it to the fold 8. Not sure how well it would work on the inside screen though. I'm also considering making the S26U my main line phone and moving the fold 7 to my second line and the privacy screen option is the main reason for me debating on doing that.

It's not about adult content so others can't see your type password/Pin , financial apps things u like to keep private and they did that with a display is pretty innovative , that's why some buy privacy screen protector but now it's built into the screen. Would that be the sole deciding factor maybe for some.

Other improvement over older Samsung devices in past

10 bit screen
25w wireless charging
60w wired charging

Better chip
Better cooling
Better pictures
Horizontal lock (unbelievable how they did that)
Better video (stable)
No 10 bit, still only 8 bit :(

Yes, true enough. But they use some technological wizardry to make that 8 bit panel approximate the color depth of a 10 bit panel.

Clearly Samsung should have been more clear and transparent about this from the jump, but it's still an improved panel.

I get what OP is saying. It seems like Samsung has been bought by Apple. We keep getting things we did not ask for and ignoring what WE WANT.

Why do they keep making phones THINNER? I've ask before and simply don't believe Samsung's excuses why they won't give us Silicon Carbon batteries.

As @Flossy calls this Privacy Display, scumbag. LOL

I only know a few that uses screen protectors with privacy. One is my oldest sister and I bug her about it, what are you worry about?

I'm just different. Why do I care if you see my account balance, whom or what I am texting, etc. These days people are too sensitive.

To each their own. The privacy screen works good for certain apps or notifications. People like your sister will probably love something like this. I don't use privacy screen protectors, but I find the privacy screen handy and use it because, why not. No nobody asked for it.. Nobody asked for the Spen back in the day either, but now some get upset if it's not there. Will the privacy screen get popular in the future, I think it will and I think other manufacturers will adapt to it also.

I don't get this battery deal.. But just because YOU WANT it doesn't mean we all do or care. Some day it'll be here, but that's not today. Everyone screamed about no 60 watt charger capability and here we are with it on the phone. I never asked for it, but it is nice and gives a substantial increase in charging speed unlike the 45. So Samsung does listen, but it's never going to happen right away.

And Flossy spoke highly of the screen protector.. He did say scumbag jokingly when he was playing around with it in his Instagram.

I agree with 60w is great and I like it and definitely be faster charging but also I think it reduces the battery capacity from 2000 charge cycles to everyone else's 1200 . Does that bother me definitely not most likely to upgrade every year.

That will definitely be the next owners problem for me also.

One of the perks for upgrading yearly. I won't do 60 charging daily, it's for the oops, I need a quick charge
