Has anyone figured out how to turn this sound off? I've looked everywhere I can think of. Thanks!

The last I saw (it's been a while back, though) the manufacturers were required to add a camera sound when the shutter activates. Apparently it had something to do with concerns about surreptitious photography -- cell phone photos up skirts and under dressing room doors and such. That might be why you can't shut it off. Loading a custom ROM might allow you to silence or deselect the sound.

Camera ICS: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...tails?id=com.moblynx.cameraics&token=PphaC_gJ has an option that allows you to turn the shutter sound off.
Edit: you can also look through http://forums.androidcentral.com/showthread.php?t=184182 (Turning camera shutter sound off)

Yes, a third-party camera app might also work. The app notes for Camera ICS include a disclaimer that silencing the shutter might not work on all devices. The JB camera on my device also does not look like the one in your screenshots. My stock VZW S3 does not have the option to silence the shutter either.

If you change your ringer setting to mute, it also silences the shutter noise.

My S3 is set up with factory ROM and I just took a picture to try it out. Did not make a sound and I have not changed any of the camera settings.

I'm now curious - is your phone running the MF1 build (4.1.2)? What does that final options screen look like - can you post a screenshot that shows the same section?
