About 5am this morning, while on charge, my S3 died again like it did a month ago : http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...00502-help-s3-bricked-failed-kies-update.html Please read the link, as it gives this post context. Since the images from that thread have vanished, here they are again.

Difference is I wasn't actually doing anything with it this time, and it was plugged in to charge via usb (computer not on). I don't know if its tried to auto update and killed itself again. Last time it happened I used clockworkmod recovery and flashed back to the previous stock. Bootloader is official now where it was official stock/custom boot from the last recovery I did. I've tried that again but its not working and it won't do anything besides go into download mode, and although it responds to Odin and appears to have flashed, reboot always fails.

I'm thoroughly sick of this as I need this phone for work I can't have it dying once a month. Strongly considering buying a new Nexus4.

Welcome to the forums!
You can use ODIN to update to the newest version of Android. You can find your file at SamsungUpdates .com. Just use the drop down menu to look for your exact model number.

That's exactly what I've tried, and what I did last time this happened (it worked then). Last it crashed because of a failed stock firmware update, this time its failed for apparently no reason at all and reflashing latest stock rom as before hasn't worked although the phone shows it has latest official rom and will enter odin it will not boot and hangs on Samsung logo.

So it always gets stuck on the Samsung logo? Its all stock right.

Tell me about it... :-\

I could try and flash a non-stock rom (its 2nd-hand, GSM and warranty-free, don't worry about it), but I've never done that before, anyone have any ideas?

Last time I revived it I found I couldn't update Android (not via Odin (failed) or Kies (doesn't recognise) and am stuck with 4.1.

If you want a non stock ROM I recommend CyanogenMod or synergy.
