S3 Home button not working

I think that may be more a hardware issue than anything else. Is the phone insured?

Maybe there is something stuck under it? Try to blow in it.

Since the factory reset didn't work, if the phone is still under warranty, take it back to your service provider or contact Samsung. Most likely a physical failure of the button or the motherboard.

An alternative to the app previously mentioned is this one:

It doesn't have as many options, but it also doesn't take space in the screen. It works by swiping your finger from the bottom of the screen upwards.
Other movements can do other tasks too, such as moving your finger on a diagonal starting from the bottom opens the notification screen
