I want to place app buttons on my lock screen but the option to do this is not available in the lock screen options menu.
Has anyone else had this problem and how can I solve it?

Any advice is welcome. Thanks

Isn't it in Settings > Lock screen > Lock screen options > Shortcuts? Note that this doesn't only contain the switch. When you tap the menu item itself, you can select 3 shortcuts.

I donot want to appear ungrateful but you did not read my question. I stated that the menu options to which you refer are not available!
Settings > Lock screen > Lock screen options only shows the following items under DISPLAY:
Clock
Double Clock
Weather
Help text

That is the problem I am facing. The menu item is just not available!
I am using Android version 4.1.2 Baseband Version I8190XXAMG4 Kern 3.0.31-1332988 Build JZO54K.I8190XXAMG4

Gary,
Have you enabled the Swipe lock screen (in addition to whatever Pattern/PIN/Password lock screen you may be using)? Without the Swipe option enabled I don't believe you'll have the option to add shortcuts.

Yes lock is enabled.

By the way Samsung service sucks. They first insult you and then ignore you!
